How do I serve my niece? (I am her guardian.) She have just now be diagnosed beside severe..read the rest!

and permanent irritable bowel syndrome. This medium that often she have diarrhea or constipation. She is eight years old so she is without fault potty trained. When she is constipated, the doctor told me to help her by "forcing" her bowels to work in need medicine or laxatives or any sort or accumulation more fiber to her diet, because her condition is not dietary. I have be told that this can be done by pushing on her feet or have her poop in a hole, where on earth she can squat. How can I help her?

PLEASE NO STUPID ANSWERS!! SHE HAS ALREADY BEEN TO THE DOCTOR, HOW ELSE WOULD SHE HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED? BE NICE, OR I WILL REPORT YOU!

Answers:    I would suggest that you attain more advice from the doctor and perchance see a specialist. There are really great doctors that specialize in this problem. I know that the Mayo Clinic and Johns Hopkins hospitals are some of the best when it comes to Crohn's Disease. She may have need of to be further checked to see if that may be the cause.

I hope she feel better. It is sad that she is suffering near this and so young too. I know you are trying intricate to help her.

EDIT: I newly remembered... exercise helps like mad. If you can make sure that you lug walks together (maybe after dinner every night), it help to move the bowels.

And be sure she's drinking plenty of water.

EDIT2: The foot pushing and squatting may minister to. It really will be easier to tell when she have an episode. Sometimes, when I was a kid and be constipated, I found that getting on my knees and laying over them (sort of holding my knees near them pressed against my stomach) helped. There's no model way to solve constipation.

I know you said the condition is not dietary, but sometimes it can still support to just gross sure she's getting soluble fiber (the kind within WHITE bread, apples, pears, citrus fruit, dried fruit, artichokes). It's not the same as fiber that's roughage (IE: soaring fiber cereals, adjectives wheat etc). Soluble fiber forms a soft gel in the intestines to relief move food through.

I see you are a UVA fan. If you live contained by VA, you aren't far from Baltimore. It may be worth seeing a specialist at Johns Hopkins.
eenthough the doctor said not to use a laative i would try it or have her drink a prune they help my brother, hope she feel better:)
