They're great and they save a lot on pads and tampons. I've been using one for years with no problems. Just clean it thoroughly with hot water and mild non-residue soap. The threat of infection is minimal unless you forget it's in. If you think about it, most people don't sterilize a penis before intercourse or hands before masturbation! You may need pantiliners or "Glad Rags" for backup if your flow is really heavy.
Some people think they're gross but I just started using one a few months ago and love it... and think of all the trash you're NOT throwing away by having one. They're really easy to use and not as messy as you'd think. The best advice I can give is to try it out for yourself.
I'm all for enviromental products, but that one, I dont think I am gonna use. What if you dont wash off all the bacteria and you reinsert it and get an infection? It just seems alittle weird, not necessarily gross, but just weird. I prefer my pads and tampons for now.
