Anyone had horrible cramping episodes like this .?

Has anyone ever experienced something like this? My sisters and I, and even my mom when she was younger all experienced really horrible cramps at period time. It was always right when we started and the cramps would very quickly escalate into nausea, dizziness, and cold sweats. We would wind up laying on the floor unable to get up just writhing in pain and most of the time we would eventually vomit...and things would being to subside a little, and then would be painful for a little longer and then slowly become bearable again. Then usually I'd just sleep a couple hours and not have much cramping for the remainder of the period. The whole ordeal lasts maybe like 3 hours or so (even thought it feels like forever!) and sometimes my hands would be numb and my whole body just freaks out! Now it only happens like every few cycles, but when I was a teenager it was like every time! Only thing doctors ever did was give us stronger advil.

Answer:
That's exactly what I suffered for for years when I was younger. My doc diagnosed me with Dysmennorhea and put me on birth control so the hormones could make my symptoms better.
One of my friends get such bad cramps that she gets bed ridden for the duration of her period. I don't know if she gets all the symptoms you and your family experience.
Ask your doctor about premenstral dysphoric disorder (PMDD). There are other alternatives than advil.
I've just started a new birth control pill and it has had me doing things like that. I would swear that it was close to the first part of labor pains only there's no baby. LOL Mine would come and go about every 20-30 mins my doctor said that after the first month or two this would stop. My body was just adjusting to the hormones. I thought I was pretty close to death it hurt soooo bad. But if your not on the pill maybe you should consider. The pill helps with a lot of things cramps included good luck the hands going numb thing not so sure but for cramps chamomille tea and a heating pad work wonders ummm you might want to get a second opinion from another dr there could be something else wrong
That happened to me last week, I was standing in the store trying to pay for my items and I started getting weak and could barely stand, i left and walked outside and was slumped over, i barely made it to the car door which my dad opened, I was in so much pain, it felt like I was in labor b/c it would be real bad than ease for a minute than get really bad again, for a hour until i couldn't take it anymore, (I was still laying stretched out in the car) I had my dad drive me to rite aid, where he went in and got me some aleve, I took four of those and sat back, I had to go get my car and drive home in pain. I went home and slept for a couple hours and woke up feeling, a lack of energy but cramps gone... too crazy, pain was not the word, I think labor wouldn't have felt that bad.

Don't worry your not alone... I feel ya pain
I personally don't get that bad of cramps but I was friends with a girl who did. She would double over in pain and just cry. Most of the time she would throw up too. But all she could do too was take tylenol or something and use a hot pad to loosen up the muscles. I feel bad! Periods are crappy enough!
my cousin gets really bad cramps and every once in a while she takes birth control so she can skip her period.
yes i get them all the time.
ask your doctor if you can try ponstel.it works like a god.
try adn get a high dose.
Cramps that bad are not normal, despite popular belief. I went through the same thing, except instead of cold sweats I had hot flashes. i would talk to your dr. about it. They may very well prescribe you a bc pill b/c for some women it helps with the cramps. I take my bc pills continuously and havn't had a period in several months. I was diagnosed through surgery with endometriosis and although my pain/symptoms are not as bad, I still have them, despite not having a period. over the counter meds never even put a dent in my pain, and I tried several and also would take them several days before my period was to start as some dr.'s suggest. I would definatley see your dr, that bad of cramps is not normal.
