What's the best form of birth control?

Yes, I know it's abstinence. I'm talking about birth control outside of abstinence.

Currently, my boyfriend and I use male condoms. But every time my period starts 1 or 2 days late, I start worrying that I missed it and I might be pregnant (because of the 97% effectiveness of condoms).

Will the pill be more effective? Can we use the pill without using condoms and still be certain of not getting pregnant? Are there other birth control methods even more effective than the pill or condoms?

Please do not tell me that the most effective birth control is abstinence and that no other method is 100% effective. I already know that.

Answer:
I personally like the nuvaring because you don't have to worry about taking pills. It's really great. You insert it for three weeks and take it out for 1. During that week you'll get your period. I like it because the hormone levels are time released so you don't have to worry about keeping them "level" by taking pills at the same time. As long as you can remember when to insert and remove you're golden.

Good luck!

And abstinence isn't as fun. Or realistic.

Have fun!
There are many different types of birth control. Shots, patches, rings, pills, etc. You would have to talk to your gyno about what is best for you. The pill is more effective than condoms but it doesn't protect you from STDs (although with just one bf, I don't think it is a concern?) However, nothing is 100% (aside from abstinence like you said). If you take a pill, you need to take it the exact same time every day for it to be 99% effective. If you don't take it every day, or you miss a pill, the effectiveness decreases. If you use a condom still while being on the pill, I think you should be fully protected unless you have really bad luck lol. You can use birth conrtol without condoms, but just know that nothing is 100%
You might consider the implants. They are good for several months and can be renewed as appropriate. The other reason for continuing to use condoms is, of course, disease control. Unless you can be 100% sure your BF enjoys ONLY you, best be safe. And of course, he would need to be 100% sure YOU are enjoying nobody else but him...
If you're going to be that concerned, you don't want to use one form of BC: you'll want to use two. If you're young, have no risk factors (smoking, bleeding disorders, high blood pressure), and can take a pill at the same time every day, you could talk to the doctor about the pill. (Or another hormonal one, such as the patch or the ring.)

Some people have side effects that show up sooner or later, depending on who you are. But if you are paranoid about pregnancy, keep using condoms at the same time you're on the pill - especially if you take other medications, such as antibiotics or some herbal meds.

Note: Implants aren't available in the US at this time, and I strongly suggest against Depo - there is a lot of data about use of that and severe bone loss / early osteoporosis coming out now
If you take the pill at the same time everyday then you have a .1% of getting preg. I think it’s the best method. The shot and the patch has had a lot of law suits. If you are a smoker than your risk of getting preg. Is also greater. There are a lot of side effects from the pill that some woman do not like .If you are just using it to keep you from getting preg. Than try something with a lower amount of estrogen, like yazmin. (pills with higher amounts stop pain in woman who have endometriosis, but tend to make you gain weight, (I gained nearly 30 pounds). Talk to your doctor though, he will be able to tell you what is best for your age and body type.
birth control deffernt according to situation&person to person is defferent it ranged from contraceptive device mean mechical &chemical to hormonal therapy (contraceptive advice) the doctor can adviiced you .but safest to used primary is condom..
The pill, if taken correctly, has a very high success rate. Some people have problems with the hormonal aspect. Be sure to take it at the same time each day. Follow all the instructions etc.

It's a big deal when a Dr. tells you that another drug (antibiotic, for example) may weaken the pill's strength. And, while taking another pill that may cause interaction (cancel out the pill) you must use a back-up method. A LOT of women become pregnant while on the pill because of this. This is very important!

If you're okay with hormonal birth control, this is a great option. It's been around a long time for a reason!
