Question for the ladies on the pill?
Answer:
I've be on the Pill for almost 15 years. It delivers a steady stream of hormones to my body, so I hold little or no PMS symptoms and I'm not moody (well, no more than normal.)
Antibiotics can play a role surrounded by the effectiveness of the Pill as can any other prescriptions (though I've found if I ask my pharmacist they are moderately knowledgeable on whether the picky medication I'm buying will interact). Its advisable to take the Pill at indistinguishable time each hours of daylight. If you forget a Pill, take it as soon as you remember (I hang on to mine in my nightstand and embezzle them right before I progress to bed, since I go to bed at alike time each darkness.)
Also, I would steer away from any herbal medication or diet pills (especially those which haven't been tested by the FDA) since drug-interactions would be unknown.
I hold heard that it can bring in some people moody, but it's a exceptional side effect.
These are the drugs that (could) detrimentally affect the effectiveness of the pill:
- Rifampin (this is the ONLY antibiotic set that does this)
- HIV protease inhibitors (don't worry something like it if you're HIV negative...if you're not, settle to your doctor, and you shouldn't be just using the pill anyway)
- Yeast infection oral anti-fungals
- Some anti-seizure medicine (I have no thought which ones, so if you have seizure, ask your doctor about this)
- St. John's Wort, which is an herb
More warning for the pill -- when you start going on it, take it near a light snack, similar to some toast or a little sandwich. It can upset some people's stomachs.
I hope I've be helpful! Good luck :)
EDIT: I've found out the anti-seizure medicine that alter the effectiveness of the Progestin Only Pill. I am not sure if they affect the Combination pill (but I would assume so)
They are:
- Phenytoin (Dilantin)
- Carbamazepine (Tegretol)
Phenobarbital
It have never made me moody. If anything it decreases the moodyness i as a rule get around that time. Forgeting to give somebody a lift it regulary affects it as well as if you vomit after taking it can also affect it.
