My girfriend says that a substitute obgyn did a long anal exam on her that seemed not normal. Is this okay?

If your girlfriend felt uncomfortable in anyway then this is NOT OKAY! Tell someone ASAP!

I'm 35 and my obgyn has never approached my anus. I'd be screaming foul and calling an attorney.
Some Gyn's will do this type of exam, but it should not be a long, drawn out thing, unless the doctor thinks that something is wrong (i.e.: mass, blockage, etc.)
a digital rectal exam is a normal part of a gyn exam. most gyns do not perform one very year, but it should be performed occasionally to make sure that everything is okay. if your gyn NEVER performs one, he or she is not doing his or her job. unfortunately, doctors often have to perform procedures that are physically or emotionally uncomfortable for their patients. if your gf felt awkward during the exam, she should talk to her regular gyn. if your gf is not satisfied after talking with her regualr doc, she should find a new doctor. all doctors should take their patients' concerns seriously.
She should report it, whether it was okay or not she still felt uncomfortable and felt it wasn't right.
yeeaa that doesnt sound right. id try to find out the name of that so called "doctor" and call some one asap!
I have had my gyno check my rectum a few times. about every other year. It is part of the exam! Maybe she hadn't ever had one done before or she was just un easy about having a new doctor examining her? I say it was probably normal but if she feels that sure that it was inappropriate then she should discuss it with someone.
