I would not use term "empire" that does not sound very friendly neither democratic. People in any kind of relationship want a reciprocal relationship. This means being a very good listener, a shoulder when your friends or family want to cry on. Being a giver not a taker. Being pleasant, smiling a lot, being fun to be with. I think this is a huge assignment and I wish you luck.
