Whenever I play basketball...?

My hands would obtain really red and my fingers would get swollen. Why is this?

You could hold a skin allergy to rubber...its uncommon but sometimes it happen. If it continues for a long time Id see a doctor, but if it goes away its probably zilch.
It sounds like you enjoy an allergic reaction to the chemicals or dye within the ball.
If you really resembling it so much, try playing it wearing gloves. But they are also made of latex rubber. See if you could find latex free gloves.
you might be shooting with your fingers after your hands.
