Got Seizure?

I've had a chronic cough for months. No diagnosis until recently. Nuerogenic cough. Tonight at dinner, I coughed so hard that I passed out. When I came to, I was numb and tingly from head to toe, things seemed to be in slow motion and I had no recollection of the event. Someone told me I was 'out' for about 30 seconds and shaking like I was having a seizure. I feel fine now, except for a minor headache, some weakness and nausea, and I have some very weird bruising on my upper left eyelid (like i got punched in the eye!).

Anyone ever had anything like this?

Answer:
Sort of. I recently started having seizures (January). I was taken by ambulance to the hospital twice and had another at home alone.

The slow motion thing, feeling "out of it" and not remembering what happened are what I experienced, and according to my doctor they are common symptoms. Shaking, tremors and loss of consciosness also occur during the event. I now take a preventitive medicine which has put them to an end.

Get to your doctor ASAP. The doctor will probably do some tests to rule out some possible causes. Most likely they will put you on one of the first line anti-seizure meds. Dilantin, (phenytoin) is the most common. Even if you have to pay full cost for it, a 90 day supply is less than $100, and the standard starting dose is 3-4 tablets per day. Not sure about side effects but I don't have any, but it does vary from person to person.

Do yourself a favor and protect other people as well and don't drive until you see the doctor. On that order also don't use any dangerous equipment or machinery until you get to the doctor.

From what my doctor tells me, the vast majority of seizures can be controlled entirely by meds, and they will not impact your life if treated.

Best wishes to you
Never! But if I'd experienced something like that I wouldn't be wasting my time asking amateurs - I'd be at the doctor's!
