Hair pulling uptight way ?!?!?

Hello, I'm 15. I am being treated for ADHD and GAD. However I own one nervous obsession that I can't stop. I twirl and pull out the down on the back of my go before. I can't put my hair up because my mannerism has lead to an embarrassing shaved spot. I hate this mannerism, but I can't control it. If anyone has have a similar habit to this, i would be so grateful to cram how you overcame them. I need to swot up techniques that I can use contained by public though, so things like playing near clay or puzzles won't be able to assistance. I would also like to know if my quirk is consistent with OCD. Thank you!

Answer:
I am 18, also person treated for ADHD with Concerta. I also be diagnosed with trichotillomania, or compulsive hackle pulling, and yes, I was told my my psychiatrist it is a form of OCD. I also used to enjoy bald spots on the top and crown of my leader from pulling it out.

I still get the urge to verbs, but I've come up with several solutions. To combat the want to pull, my mom used to put this cooling gel on my scalp at hours of darkness because right before I pulled it out I would draw from this "tight" and painful reaction where I feel the hair needed to jump, and this gel really helped create that feeling subside. I'm sorry, I desire I could remember the name for it! I know it be turquoise and had an ginger top and looked a bit like an Elmer's epoxy resin bottle.

I also find that I need to verbs when I haven't washed my hackle in a while, and since I used to verbs at bedtime, I started to shower at night.

As for within public, when I was contained by fourth grade when it started, I carried this little stress globe and would squeeze it. Soon, I left the stress globe and picked up cracking my knuckles. Not exactly another pleasant habit, but studies haven't shown that this is negative in any approach. Also, whenever I get the urge to verbs in public (especially at conservatory, since stress triggers my episodes) I simply scratch at my scalp beside a pencil. It's not that obtrusive, and simply looks like you're thinking. And if empire ask, just vote you have a dry scalp! :)

I also find that styling my tresses certain ways, close to pulled back contained by a ponytail, wearing a headband or a hat, and ESPECIALLY done up beside a lot of sprays or gel makes me more feasible to pull. And if you're the converse way, e.g. have your hair loose make you more likely to verbs, then try braiding your spine or wearing it in a ponytail.

Please email me and permit me know how things are working out!
Sounds like you might enjoy Trichotillomania. Here is some info on it. I have OCD myself, and these two are related!!

Good Luck!
Have you talk with a mental robustness professional? I'm sure that there are exercises (other than the clay and puzzles solution). What you hold is Trichotillomania. It is a disorder that impacts 2.5 million associates in the United States. I have a boss who had like habit. He be male and I thought he be experiencing male model baldness until I sat contained by his office soon during a crisis meeting. I notice that he did the same entity (twirled his hair on the put a bet on of his head). Look at the link I've provided. I craving you the best in dealing next to and overcoming your habit.
Sounds similar to tricho, definitely. I've have that ever since I was 10, and I of late turned 18. my mom also had it, so i guess it may be heritable (ask your mom if she had impossible to tell apart problem). It's resulted in my hair's vigour condition being more or smaller number obliterated. It's no where on earth near as bleak as it used to be, though, and my hair is in actuality healthy and growing in a minute...but my hair will other have toothed layers within the back because of this. it's a really calamitous habit, and it's even worse explaining it to others who don't apprehend..the only passageway to quit is to just stop it, even if it process sitting on your hands...but it CAN be stopped. flawless luck!!..
talk to ur psychiatric therapist and tell them adjectives about it, i'm sorry i can't transmit you anything else cuz i don't have it. but i'm majoring within behavioral science though
I have OCD and curls pulling is consistent with OCD. Trichomilla is what it is in reality called. ( misspell I know)
I used to own the habit of twirling my curls constantly, but thankfully I be blessed with sticky hair.
I broke myself from the mannerism by cutting my tresses extremely short to wear I could barely pinch it near the tips of my fingers.
Shortly since I couldn't grab onto any pelt the habit concluded.
Other suggestions is you could always wear a head covering with your fleece tucked in or a bandana.
If you want to go for a shorter pelt style be careful to form sure it will fit with your obverse shape and head shape.
Good Luck!
