How come when you get sun-burned, you get itchy?

i got alittle sunburn on my back, it doesnt't burn but it itches

Answer:
because the skin is so extremely dry.
It itches because your skin is trying to heal.
Most of the time, in order to heal, your skin has to peel, which itches.
Itching is a pain response when two or more pain receptors right next to each other are activated, or there's a little pain over a large area.

It's more of an irritation thing than a pain thing. Protect yourself from now on, especially the new skin under where you were sunburned, because it's fresh and especially tender. You're probably about to peel..ugh. Put on some cream with antioxidants (vitamins A, C, and E) and take some aspirin/ibuprofen to help with the inflammation.

If you can track it down, they have creams that reduce the damage to your skin, but they can be pricey. The antioxidants and anti-inflammatories should help, though.
