I'm thinking about gving a bone marrow...is it painful?
Sorry for my English
Answer:
In the UK if you are a bone marrow donor there is two ways to donate.
The first method is to donate the Bone Marrow itself, which involves the removal of stem cells from your hip bone. This is done using a needle and syringe under a general anaesthetic. Althought this is not a surgical operation, there will be marks on the skin made by the needle and you will need a few days rest.
The second method is to remove stem cells from the circulating blood. You are connected to an apheresis machine. This machine removes the stem cells from your blood then returns the blood to your other arm.
The most either should hurt is the needles going in. I nearly signed up to do it myslef at my last blood donation but im going to wait untill my son is a bit older. Just makes me feel better about doing it.
I havent personally but know someone who has and it wasnt a very nice experience. That dosent mean dont do it, i admire you for wanting to help others.
Well thats Really nice of You that you want to Donate Bone Marrow, It Proves you are very Kind, But its Not one of the best things to do , I mean its not that easy , Please don"t take me wrong I am not threatening you at all , I am just telling the Word of Mouth. Its Painful..
Best of Luck for that.!
if your really set on doing it to help others it shouldnt be about the pain.it should be about giving other more of a chance of life ,good luck
