What make the body "grow" muscles when we (read men) pull weights?

Lifting weights creates micro-tears in the muscle fibers, when they treat, the new tissue is bigger and stronger and this keep going on and on to a certain level. That is why you shouldn't lift weights every afternoon you need to hold days off for the muscle to alleviate or you will grow too fatigued
Jonny 41 answered you perfectly! the single thing i would append, is you need a correct source of protien to make this come up, like, peanut butter, chicken, fish and so on... great answer!
