Do you think the smoking ban will create a serious health risk on our children?

Since more people will probably smoke more cigarettes at home around their children.

Answer:
well i just think that any responsible parent wouldn't smoke around their child. Can't use the smoking ban as an excuse to. They can always go outside and smoke.
No. There were two kids under 5 in the pub not half an hour ago with their mother smoking.
good question i think it could
yes they have not thought about that yet
good question.!!
Most people are aware of the second-hand smoke risks to their kids and will try not to smoke all over them. It is no more of a risk than going outside a breathing in the polluted air we all have created. But no one wants to think about that, because we can't blame the smokers! By the way, I don't smoke. I just think we are blaming smokes for a lot of things these days.
Here in Scotland we've had the smoking ban for a while and it's ok.
People just smoke outside and quite a few have given up.

It's great to go for a night out and not come home stinking of smoke and I've heard a few smokers saying the same thing.

You English folk make SUCH a big deal of everything
The presence of chidren in houses has put these poor smokers in this position, have children no sympathy for their
addicted parents?I`m afraid it`s just another example of the selfish modern youngsters` way of life.
They already do smoke a lot around their children, but if people get in the habit of going outdoors to smoke at work, school, pubs, stores etc. that may carry on to the home and cars etc. Indoor smoking has been banned for awhile now in Canada, lots of people have quit smoking because there are so few places to smoke they finally gave up, which is better for all concerned.
i think them people already smoked its not going to change how many smoke around their children, hopefully if anything more people will stop all together
While I do agree with you that smoking around anyone in a small enclosed place without ventilation is rude, and over time would cause damage, I'm tired of hearing people talk about "The dangers of second hand smoke" who don't know what they're talking about. Have you ever really seen the data/studies/statistical analysis on this? None of it proves anything. It shows a possibility, that's it. It also doesn't take any of the environmental factors into account that DO cause cancer and asthma related illnesses.
Read carefully, I'm not saying smoking doesn't cause cancer, only that second hand smoke isn't the big danger it's made out to be. They've been using this issue to distract people from the real dangers.
What will you do when smoking is eradicated and we still have the same cancer rates? Read the data yourself before you make blind statements.
I think the ban is the way forward but I see your point. It ought to be ilegal to smoke around children too. I fail to understand any parents who smoke around their children. Children who see their parents smoke are more likely to take up the habit when they grow up as well as the obvious health risks of inhaling passive smoke.
No, because most people who smoke that I know go outside in the garden anyway away from children. However, it will be much worse outside the home as more people are forced to smoke on the streets rather than in pubs, bingo halls etc.
Hardly, dont know how ur working that one out.
Just because theres a smoking ban on doesnt meen that people r deprived of a smoke all day long till they get home and smoke there brains out lol.
There is smoking areas and a place call outside where u can smoke ya know duhhhhhhhhhhhhh
of course, it can cause cancer or damage the kidney and after all science says that the second hand smoking is more dangerous!
i think it will be healthier for kids they will have to exercise more
I don't smoke around my kids. Not inside anywhere!! I don't smoke on anyone else. I will die peacefully, outside, in the elements, inhaling the burning embers of these idiotic death sticks! Thank you very much.
The children should not be smoking.
Don't we have enough laws stopping us from doing everything you can think of without trying to come up with some more? The law should stay out of everyones lives at home and let them at least live in peace at their own home. No one should have to be forced to have to live in a house filled with smokers who smoke all the time but it happens, take what ever steps that you want in your home but you can't change the world. If you see someone in your home smoking you call the law don't expect everone else to do the same. Different strokes, you know!
