Lil girl bumbed her head?

My daughter, 1 1/2 yr old, was standing by the doorway and someone came through & when the door opened it hit her in the head .she now has a bump. What can I do for her and should I not let her fall asleep?

Answer:
Honestly, that's a myth about not falling asleep- in fact, the doctor told me my son was obviously not traumatized by his injury and he would heal in his sleep. The ER charged us to confirm what he told us for free. She'll be fine.

I understand, it hurts when your child is in pain. But, really, she'll be just fine.
If there is a bump go to the doctor or ER to rule out a concussion. And in the mean time, she should not sleep and you can apply an ice pack.
Get her to the hospital to be on the safe side. You can always call the paramedics if u have a fear of driving when u r worried.
Put a coldpack on it and no she should not sleep for at least an hour or two
I wouldn't let her fall asleep for a while just to be sure. It all depends on how hard the hit was. There's not much to cure a bump on the head, just some tender love and care...maybe a little sympathy. If she gets very sleepy and needs a nap make sure you wake her up every 15 min. just to make sure she's still okay...by tonight, she should be okay. If it was an extremely hard hit you may want to see a doc just to be safe, or call one if you have a pediatrician or family doc that knows her.
I AM NOT A DOCTOR OR NURSE but the general rule i apply is; if they become dazed, vomit or start acting all sleepy you should take her to A&E but if they cry immediately & act like themselves, they're ok. Its happened to all of mine on several occasions & only once did i need to go to A&E & it was nothing in the end - thankfully! Re the bump: I cannot think of the name of the stuff to put on bruises & bumps but i'll come back to you if i think of it later - Arnica or something... How about a big ol cuddle & a nice story before bed.
By the sounds of it, your daughter wasn't traumatically injured with her encounter with the door. For the bump, try to put a cold compress on it to reduce the swelling. If it hurts give her something for the pain. If she's not vomiting or lethargic, and her pupils look ok, I wouldn't worry about letting her nap or sleep. If it makes you feel better, gently wake her periodically when she's sleeping. If you're not comfortable, take her to the E.R. for peace of mind.
Is she acting funny? Is she puking? Has she been trying to fall asleep? If yes on any question take her into a doctor right away (emergency room would work)and do not let her fall sleep. Play games that aren't very stimulating but still fun for her to stay awake. To help with swelling give her an ice pack. If you don't have one ice in a towel will work. To keep her a little more alert (and possibly help with the tears) giver her a treat (sucker, Popsicle... what ever you usually give her).

Keep in mind accidents do happen. Kids often get tough because of things like this.

Good luck
u can put ice or a cold pack on the bump to c if it will go down. if it does not call her doctor or go to the hospital.
