Is there a way for me to sleep better?

Not counting existential angst(unrelated to some extent), I think i have insomnia. Ive been having trouble falling asleep for the past 12 days. I wiggle around alot in bed(each position gets uncomfortable after a while); sometimes its too hot cold; go to bathroom;even when my mind is blank i dont sleep within an hour. I usually eat before i sleep, use computer/tv,loud stuff,dont tire myself in the daytime...back in when i still had school, i worked myself to sleep, getting a few hours a night. Nowadays ,im still sleeping late but getting 10-12 hours instead of the usual 6-7...Is there anyway or anything that can help me fall asleep better? NO sleeping pills or alcohol or ingesting anything created by those imperialist scum of big corperations! Im only 16 and i dont wanna kill of brain cells b4 AP classes next year or help exploit workers and formulas created by scientists...ignoring that stream of consciousness bit, i wanna sleep better...*im not a commie, im liberal...ignore that...

Well, you should try to excercise or get some activity during the day. Get sunshine - the melatonin helps us fall asleep later. Make yourself get up earlier than usual and you will be able to fall asleep earlier that night because you'll be so tired. Taking a shower and toast and milk and melatonin are all good suggestions too.
My mom has this problem too. Well, she told me to sleep when everything is really quiet. It helps you relax more. You can also listen to soft quiet music too.
You should take a shower, drink some milk and have toast. Then take a melatonin which is natural. It works for me, I'm a very bad insomniac also. You will be sleeping good within half an hour and it also gives you interesting dreams.
your best bet and this works for me is pillow spray or i bought these lavender sachets from L'Occtaine and just breathing in those scents as i fall asleep really help me. because you breathe deeper and relax. reading also tends to help i sometimes read until i cant focus on the page anymore and finally pass out.
also, instead of eating try a glass of milk or eat cherries (they contain a chemical that helps you sleep) also, try not to watch TV or go on the computer these things only stimulate your brain keeping it too active to rest.
