Did you ever notice how public restrooms have oval instead of round toilets--and often with open ended seats? It's because of the issue you state along with reducing exchanging germs with the last long one. Simple solution...change your toilet. It's a far better answer than chopping 50% off.
I've learned how to keep it outside of the bowl. now it keeps hitting the floor, though... so it's really just trading one problem for another.
Make sure I don't flush.
If its that large, just lay it on the seat while your taking a crap.

I had to get a sculptor to make me a custom deeper toilet precisely because of this.
Hold it. Remember you don't know what things have touched the bowl. Protect your manthing by holding it in one hand and use the other hand to wipe your butt. It is tough but my husband was able to perfect that art and I am sure, with a little practice, you can also perfect the art of phallus holding.
