If he can take his proboscis in, he can bring back the blood. A heavy scab will be too tough, but around the edges or just now formed would be easy.

Not from a scab directly as it have no blood supply of its own. In theory they could capture under the scab and drink from in that but it is unlikely - they like flowing targets! Bless them.
