How can you strengthen your knees?

I use to go running for Track and Soccer, but now that I haven't ran in awhile, my knees feel really weird. They kind of hurt when I squat. What can I do to strengthen them? Any exercises that are good? Thanks :)

try running again or joging or climiming stairs
Walking up stairs help.
you can do squat like 10 times a day
