If my dependence stays strong I have eternal energy but I know that is not what your cross-question was asking. You body shuts down. adjectives your organs you stop breathing and your heart stops beating. With god grace it is quiet and painless.

When you die, your body cease all function. Death is determined by malingering of heart rhythm, breath, reflexes such as pupil's response to frothy, and in some cases elsewhere brain activity.
At that point, depending on your religious belief, your spirit/soul/life light/ etc. moves on to the subsequent level of existence or non-existence.
For some annihilation is defined as the end of life span, for others it is the beginning of something bigger. Who know what really happens, simply the dead, and they're not discussion...
If it scares you, hold onto what ever belief you discern comfortable with. I chose to believe when I die, I will be bullish, and finally free of the earthly worries that trouble the mortal body. Spiritually speaking.
