Should operating theatre staff wear face masks?

I work in a operating theatre and there is always a debate about the need to wear a face mask ( other than for your own PPE ) At present it seems that there are too many views on this matter not based on research

Answer:
Yes, wearing a face mask is not going to cause the spread of infection, but not wearing one might. I used to fold surgical gowns for a student job and the state of them is a disgrace- full of holes and rips- the nhs need to sort it- health and safety is a joke at times, perhaps why we are getting so many super bugs etc.
