Oxycodone and itching?

As a pharmacist I capture this question pretty regularly. Itching from oxycodone has two different, usually unrelated cause.
First is that you're allergic to narcotic pain relievers. This is in truth fairly unusual and you would see this reaction near nearly all narcotic twinge releivers. This is particularly worrisome if you hold difficulty breathing due to swelling of the throat or tongue.
Second, and much more common, is that this is a side-effect of oxycodone. This drug is agreed to commonly cause a release of histamine which cause the itching that you are experiencing.
In either armour this can be treated with diphenhydramine (Benadryl).
Ask the prescriber, moron.

No, it is not ok. I resources you are developing a sensitivity to the drug, it could lead to an adjectives out anaphylactic reaction the subsequent time you take it. For immediately, take benedryl beside the med if you must have it, that will minimize your body's allergic counterattack to it. Be sure to notify your presriber so the next time they donate you something else for pain.
i go and get the "itchies" all the time near it. never had hives though. might want to speak to your dr for another med, you might own an allergy to it
