Can you get hooked on cocaine the first time you try it?

Alot of people I know say that you cannot and if you do it rarely you will not get hooked. Im not sure. What about meth? Ecstasy? etc. Just curious.

Answer:
Meth? Absolutely. Ever see a meth addict? They get so hooked that they don't bother to eat, sleep or even groom themselves. Google "meth mouth". That should get rid of an thought of trying it. If not, you deserve whatever happens to you.

Coke and Ecstasy, probably not. Those two are not highly addictive for most people, though the feelings of euphoria that stem from them may fill a void that some people are lacking.

I 'have friends' who have recreationally used coke and e for years, and have taken months off in between uses. The most common complaint I've heard about coke and e is that you feel pretty lousy when you start coming down from their affects... I guess people can get hooked by doing so much so frequently that they can't handle coming down.

Also, keep in mind that use of all three of these drugs is highly risky for many reasons. First, their not controlled by the FDA, so who knows what your local drug dealer has mixed in with them - usually it's household cleaning products (YUM!) Obviously, ingesting that is pretty dangerous. Secondly, they are all at the highest level of the "most illeagal" illegal drugs; posession of any amount is a felony (you can forget about EVER making more that 30 grand per year), and having a sharable amount on you is almost guaranteed prison time.

Still curious?
If you have an addictive personality you can get hooked on anything.. drugs, shopping, alcohol, cigarettes, gambling, coffee.. anything.

Not everyone has an addictive personality.
Don't even try these drugs. Heroine is addictive first time. Crack too, which is a form of cocaine.

Don't take drugs or hang with drug users. That's a ticket for trouble. meth sux coz the more you use it, when you come down you feel very very veyr depressed.
You can become addicted to them all the first time and it's not true that you can't become addicted if you do it rarely.. after you try them, you're body physically craves them.. you go through a withdrawal that is not at all pleasant which means that you're body is already in need for more. It's also true that you can die from doing these the first time too.
only if you are one of these people that can get addicted to things really easily no u cant be addicted to ecstasy i' ve been taking them for 3 and a half years and am not addicted just depends i think.
lol yep...
dont try it in the first place
Drugs are for losers..
IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE PERSON. I PERSONALLY THINK YOU'RE AN IDIOT IF YOU TRY ANY OF THAT STUFF.
It isn't possible to become addicted to any substance the first time you try it. However, cocaine is often regarded as one of of most addictive substances.

It would seem that the messages of the anti-drug campaigns over the years have overemphasized the addictive power of certain addictive drugs such as cocaine, making us believe that it is possible to become addicted after just one use.

Yes, cocaine is very addictive and one could in theory become addicted after just a few uses, with all the bad consequences that go with any drug addiction. However, you won't get hooked on coke on the first try.
Let's get something straight. Addiction is a profoundly progressive disease. Has both genetic and environmental components. Anyone, and I mean anyone can become dependent on a drug. But the key difference between addiction and dependence is whether or not you can stop. Addiction is defined by the following criteria: A family history of addiction and the inability to stop using despite consequences to your health, family, friends, work, relationships, etc. To answer you question, heroin and cocaine are extremely "addictive" drugs in which you can quickly be physically dependent on them. Meth as well. Ecstasy relatively harmless compared to cocaine and heroin but you will start to see effects after about 15-20 hits.

Its too much of a hassle to explain this to you in long detail. My advise is to not rely on people's answer to a type of question like this. Most individuals have absolutely no idea what they are talking about when it comes to this subject and your previous answers prove this (i.e. Pepper). "Pepper" thinks addiction is a personality construct. LOL!! Hope my advise helps but in the end it is up to you to make the final decisions on this subject matter. Good luck.
I wouldn't really call it "addicted" after the first time, if you like it you're going to want to do it again of course, but your level of self control determines how many more times/how frequently you will do it which can then lead to addiction. You can't become PHYSICALLY addicted to it after one time.
it depends what you mean by "hooked". There is no drug, including heroin or cociane, that can make you physically dependent with one use. The problem it is, the first use might appear to be a lot of fun, and will make you try in again and again, and before you know it, you are hooked, physically and mentally. The big thing to realize is that if you NEVER try a drug, than you can never be addicted to it. The chance of eventually becoming a cocaine addicit after one try might be 1 in 10 ir 20, but the chance of becoming an addict without ever trying it is 0. It is up to you to decide if you are willing to take that chance.
