Has anyone ever experience the feeling of 'sinking into yourself' as I like to describe it?

This happens occasionally when I get into a state of mind where I don't move any part of my body, and just lay there, relaxed. I've never let it finish out, however. The feeling is so real, that I fear if I do let it finish, I would fall into some sort of a coma.

There are two other situations where this has occurred, unintentionally. A couple days after I had enlisted in the military, I began to start feeling this way, but it would come on me like an attack. Almost like a lack of oxygen, and I would hyperventilate. This happened for about a week, and then stopped. I also experienced sleep paralysis often during this time.

Another, which has happened multiple times, is this. I used to be asthmatic, up until I was about twelve. I took Albuterol, an inhaler. If I took more than three 'puffs' in about twenty seconds, I would experience an insane, unstoppable feeling of 'falling into myself'. Noises sounded high pitched, and my body felt like pure static.

Heh...

I don't think this is a medical condition, though I COULD be wrong. There are many people who get this feeling, I think, though they may dismiss it.

Perhaps you're approaching some kind of other state of being. Perhaps it's like Sartre's Nausea. Perhaps letting it go all the way is a step towards something greater.

I can't really classify it as any of these things; they're just guesses. Try letting it go all the way and see what happens.
Dude, ask your question in the Mental Health section. What you are describing sounds like Dissociation--and a very classic case. Dissociation is a subject unto itself. Very complex and many factors. But you really owe it to yourself to learn about this disorder so you can put it into some sort of significant place in your mind. Actually, you also owe it to the people around you. It will only continue and happen more often. What you are experiencing is a mental health issue. Take care of yourself.

Addendum: Actually, I must still promote the Dissociative possibility. Although outside factors may be initiating some of these episodes, the fact that such unrelated factors are producing the same or close to the same mindset, if you will, raises the issue of dissociation. Panic attacks are primary symptoms of a dissociative disorder. Especially one which is yet undiagnosed. I respectfully remain strong in my opinion that there is an underlying mental health issue at hand. I also still suggest asking this question in the Mental Health section, as you will find that what I am suggesting has a lot of truth to it from other individuals. I think many people in the Mental Health section will concur and will encourage you to learn more about dissociation disorders. You really want to address this, as it can only be a negative force in your daily life until and unless you grow to understand how it affects you personally.
I disagree with the previous answer that you are displaying classic symptoms of dissociation - way too aggressive a diagnosis! Dissociation is a state of acute mental decompensation in which certain thoughts, emotions, sensations, and/or memories are compartmentalized because they are too overwhelming for the conscious mind to integrate. Dissociation most often makes the news with regards to soldiers' responses to wartime stress, rape victims with amnesia for details, and in occasional criminal trials where the question of whether a person with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) can be responsible for his or her actions. Perhaps the most widely-known form of dissociative disorder is DID, formerly known as Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD). This sounds more like panic/anxiety attacks to me. Go see your medical doctor and/or a therapist. Good luck!
