What could be causing a rash all over the body?

I have a bumpy rash (skin-colored) that has broken out over the past two weeks on my face, my arms, hands and fingers and legs. I have been to the doctor three times and he has ruled out chicken pox, measles, mumps, etc. He said it's an allergic reaction to something from the inside out (meaning not contact-dermititis). I had it a couple weeks ago and then I got an allergy shot and it went away. A week later it is back again. I itch like crazy, a maddening itch 24-7. I haven't changed anything I normally eat or products I use except for my husband changed our laundry soap a couple weeks ago. I don't know what to do.

Answer:
As a healthcare provider I believe too it is an allergy. The other possibility is a drug reaction (unless you have not received any new drugs). When you say you got an allergy shot, I believe you are referring to a shot of decadron or a simular corticosteroid which is like cortisone or predisone. The fact that the rash has been two weeks and that it reacted to the decadron (or steroid) shot more or less proves the allergy theory. A visit to the dermatologist is warrented, but not the ER at this point.unless the rash would turn to shortness of breath or swelling in the face or throat etc. This may also lead to an allergy specialist.
I'm a nurse... go see your dermatoligist or family MD STAT. That is not something to mess around with, and yahoo is not the place to be seeking medical advise of that nature. I would even suggest visiting the ER since it is so late in the day. Take this serious... it IS your health!
Have you been useing a new brand of laundery detergent? that's your culprit
it could be your detergent or bathing soap

check and see if it is eczema?doesnt mean your dirty just one of those thing,ya know

i have just became allergic to the metal on my belt, belts ive worn since i can remember
I have the same thing , it was stress that's caused the rash , i will tell you to relax ,think less , think less about the rash , in case that's doesn't work change
it can be a bacteria mater , clean completely your bed ...that's mean change the pillow and turn the bed clean every thing that's can be cleaned , a bed can be a very good place for all kind of bacteria!!
I would get a second opinion and maybe keep a journal of the things you are eating so when you go to see the new doctor, he can take a closer look at you diet and make sure that's not the culprit. Also, I would switch to a gentle detergent and if you are using a new body cleanser, I would switch to something like Dove body wash. Also, wash any new clothes you buy before wearing them. Maybe you have a sensativity to the dye. You may just have a sensativity to environmental allergies or some food that you didn't used to have an allergy to. It happens. Allergies are so random. The shots may be your best bet. theyre tedious but a lifesaver. My sister swears by them.
Look at any medicines you are taking. Sometimes a person takes a medicine for years and then suddenly develops an allergic reaction to one of them. Sometimes one medicine can affect the metabolism of another increasing the amount of one or both of the medicines. Try using your old laundry soap. Make a list of everything that you eat and touch every day.
Make an appointment to see a dermatologist (skin specialist)Take pictures of your rash to document it in case it clears up before you see the dermatologist, because the same rash might come back. Go back to your old laundry soap and double rinse your clothes to see if that helps. Ask the pharmacist for benadryl to help control the itching so you can sleep. Benadryl will get rid of common hives if its an allergic reaction. You could have linchen planus which is not an allergic reaction.
try changing soap, or anything you put on your face
