You don't want to make them fatter but look more toned intent they need muscle. Soccer, gymnastics, rime skating, all tone legs remarkably well. Go to a gym and recount your trainer you want to primarly work on your legs. Don't try to make them hefty.
add muscle to them by doing squats
I enjoy them too, it's called atrophy. Your muscle have wasted away. I don't hold any strength in mine, I'm not sure if you do, for example I can't bring myself up from the ground if I have to pick something up. Light exercise, and walking every morning will help...worthy luck!!
