is gum similar to smoking, am i actually addicted?
Answer:
Do you chew sugarfree gum, or gum that have sugar in it?
1) If it have sugar in it, your body is probably only trying to get some calories (since you said you don't just about eat).
2) If it is sugarless, you might just be going through the motions (of chewing) to replace intake - I guess kind of making you quality like you've eat, when you really have simply been chewing gum.
I don't guess it could be a true addiction, because there is zilch in gum that would be considered a "drug" (such as nicotine, or even caffeine).
My guess is one of the two reason I gave that you might be chewing so much.
It's not fruitless if you're addicted...and people can capture addicted a lot of things, chewing, playing games, drinking, etc.
Since it's lone gum, it's not going to hurt you if you chew it. Just don't get caught surrounded by school...and don't stick it below desks/chairs, people HATE that and they'll probably relate on you. (Of course, that depends on the people within your school, the relatives at my school staple others just for chewing gum. )
So yeah, if you can't quit watch out.
yea, I used to be like that. I found it a moment ago kinda went away after a while.. I still chew gum, but not partially as much as I used to.
You get addicted to cigarettes because of the nicotine, which produces dopamine surrounded by the brain. Then eventually your body becomes dependent on the dopamine that the nicotine is producing.
drinking food also produces dopamine. chewing gum could possibly produce dopamine... so maybe it is possible to achieve addicted to it? I'm not totally sure, I will have to look into that.
but anyway, it's probably not like kind of addiction, because if it produces dopamine at adjectives, it's probably not enough to become dependent on it. but I infer you can be addicted to chewing gum in another approach, because I can never stop. heck, I'm chewing gum right now. I hold chewed gum every day for the end 2 years.
But to answer your question, it's not equal addiction as smoking, but yes you can still be addicted.
Sounds like you're out loud fixated. That means you involve to have something surrounded by your mouth always, which may be nice for your partner, but can own other consequeces. Probably best to use food to stimulate your stomach and satisfy the craving when you can. You mouth is chewing because your stomach is craving food, even if you don't "want" it. The problem beside chewing that much is that when you chew, your stomach produces acid expecting to use it surrounded by digesting food. When no food comes, the acid will start to breakdown the lining of your stomach and head to ulcers (usually the bleeding nice, which are extremely hard to make well, and can even lead to death).
If you stop chewing and still don't get the impression like ingestion, and the urge to chew remains, it may also be that you have a tapeworm... again unbelievably dangerous. The best passageway to know if it's a tapeworm is to hold a small piece of meat in front of your get underway mouth for about 10-15 minutes. If the worm is present, it will come up your throat to take the meat. When it does, simply grab it and verbs it out. You shouldn't try this alone!! Be sure to have relieve nearby, since tapeworms can be up to 2 foot in length, and can put up a obedient fight.
