Whenever i go anywhere thats higher altitude then where i live i feel like crap?

altitude makes me feel drained and drowsy, a little queasy ,lightheaded almost like im going to faint and i get a headache, its miserable, i know that people can get altitude sickness but thats for VERY high elevations i would think, i start feel crappy starting about 3500 feet , 5000 feet i am moderately bad feeling and by 7000 feet im pretty much sick. why does this happen and how can i prevent it or at least make it not so bad.

Answer:
the higher the altitude the less oxygen. elite competitive swimmers actually spend some time during the year training at a high altitude. thats because it works the lungs a lot more than at sea level. when they come back down to sea level they find it easier to swim. some ufc fighters train at higher altitudes too for the same reason.
the reason why you feel so awful is b/c here is less oxygen in the air than you are used to. Once you have lived in those condtions then you will get used to them and it will not bother you as badly.
*Chew gum (lightheaded may result from equilibrium issues, so gum should fix that)

*Take motion sickness medication. Drowsiness is the only known side-affect. It should eliminate all other terrorizing symptoms.

*Stick to walking.

hoped that helped.
Altitude sickness starts for me about 12K feet, but only if I exert myself.

I suspect you may be anemic. Mention this was you see your doctor next. Consider taking a multivitamin with iron.
No expert here but, altitude sickness could start off as bad mountain sickness and get worse as you go higher becoming hace
