It's an ear infection from hard sniffling through peter out sinus passages. The fluid back up into your Eustachian tubes and parks it until the swelling dissipates.
An anti-biotic will usually clear it up, but you might just try the Mucinex that applies more to your symptoms. I've found it works for me!
It's your sinuses swollen by the germs.
Brush your teeth and your tongue. Use mouthwash but don't overdo it. You involve to sanitize your mouth from the germs but if you do it too much you can kill your own white blood cell and cause your sinuses to be sterile allowing the germs to budge through your sinus passages.
I know it sounds wierd, but I tried this. The clicking is the pressure from your ear sinus passage trying to block the germs. Your mouth is the place where the germs are manufacturering and it keep the sickness going. When you frequently brush and gargle, you're basically eliminate a source of the germs to multiply and your body can focus on fighting sour the remainder in your throat or elsewhere contained by your body.
Just try it, brush thoroughly. Four, five times a day (or whenever you perceive your body or throat get adjectives or crusty from being sick). Gargle, but don't over do the gargle, just ample to feel/smell the mouthwash go through your sinuses.
That clicking will budge away and you'll cut the cold time in partly.
