Answer:
Its kinda like the donkey and carrot trick ..I make short measurable goals and if I make them, I reward myself- which usually makes me happy.
Drinking your sorrows away is a great way to get rid of depression!
if i feel unhappy, i find the root of the problem [why am i feeling unhappy?] whatever is making me feel down, i realize that [if its temporary] it will eventually go away, and makes no difference in the long run, and [if it's permanent] that i will have to live with it anyway, so why not make the most of it and enjoy it. basically, comfort yourself because no one else will.
Think about the people that are worse off...because there ALWAYS people that are...and some of them have to bear their crosses alone..I believe there is at least one good thing about every one of us...and every one of us has at least one good thing in our lives..
I recommend you to live a now in this moment, to enjoy it as much as you can; the past is gone, the future is incertain so the present is the clue but be careful with the others. Do not damage anyone or anything...
love yourself. say i am worth it. ppl used to put me down. now i say it is their loss. so everyday i say thank god for living. so please try walking as an exercise and keep ur body good. sleep well. pray. read alot to
learn.
I find that if I have a purpose in life, Like:
To Love, Know, and Serve God is a purpose He made us for.
I say, this too shall pass, and keep on keeping on.
medications , and self-mutalations
Mental health will be my happiness
It took a great deal of time to figure out how to combat those emotions.. before it was too late, before I was too "down" to bring myself back up.

And it still DOES take a contious effort. but here's what works for me ...every time.

I think about where I was 2 years ago. and how blessed I am to have been given another chance. when I did nothing to deserve it... and I think of all of the people who aren't blessed with that opportunity... or blessed with a supportive family.

I think about whatever the " sad " situation is that's getting my mind spinning downward. and realize that even the smallest thing added to that situation... could make it so much worse, so much heavier. it gives me the strength to be thankful and the clarity of mind to step back and evaluate the big picture, which often becomes much less overwhelming...

I also have people who are close to me... that I can call. most of the time. and that's a very valuable resource in life. I don't call to vent . or whine... I just call to open my mind up to the rest of the world around me. This helps bring me out of myself. and changes the focus of my attention.

however. there are always times... sometimes, when I don't feel the mental or emotional strength that it takes to get out of a depressed mindset. that's usually when I take a nap. maybe not the best way to deal with things, but for me it''s definitely better than some alternatives. As long as I don't use that as a consistant form of coping.
