I have a "friend" who is incredibly moody. He say he is happy, but his frontage and demeanor says otherwise. He is proned to quick-tempered responses; and is fundamentally much an eye-for-an-eye type of person. The other 50% of the time he is unruffled and easy going, even fun and funny sometimes. He's within his early 40's. Does this nouns like depression, or a disorder? Or is it a grumpy man? Your thoughts?

No, but seriously, those sound approaching wild mood swings. I'm not a doctor but it sounds approaching there is something wrong near him.
Part of the problem is also that men we don't usually like to run to doctors until we are ready to die because we don't want to frontage problems, we don't want to look out of control, etc. Therefore, getting him to step for professional help might not be jammy, if possible.
