What is better for panic attacks. Clonapin (Clonazipan) or Xanax?
Answer:
Both are prescription drugs, so what does it matter, your doctor will tell you when he prescribes it.
xanax
clonazipan always helped me the best
I'd say xanax because it mellows you out sooo much and if you're having a panic attack it would calm you down and you'll prolly end up falling asleep.
I don't know if that's what you're looking for but hope it all goes well.
I vote for clonazipan although you must take it daily. Have you ever tried Ativan? That is a drug you can put under your tongue at the first signs of a panic attack, works in minutes and doesn't need to be taken daily. Daily ones can become addictive, although if you need them, you need them.
Only people who have had a true panic attack can understand.
i never used any prescription for mine.
i know not everyone does this but when i first had them i thought i was having a heart attack when i was diagnoised with them what i did was every time i felt one coming on i would 'recognize' it for what it was and not panic thinking it was a heart attack. i would sit down, take deep cleansing breaths and try and still my self. the first few times it took a lot of concentration but i found that they got less and less and its been years since i have had one. i was also told that st. john's wort, an herbal medication would help, it's called natures anti-depressant.
i'm not saying you ought to go off or refuse medications i'm just telling you what worked for me.
Never tried Clonapin, but I take one Xanax a day when my anxiety comes on strong.
It makes me feel like I should feel, and stops me in my tracks from worrying about the stupid little things us anxiety ppl suffer from.
I'm wired all the time being an insomniac so they don't put me to sleep, which is kinda good I suppose lol.
"KLONOPIN" XANAX ..MADE MY THOUGHTS RACE MORE AND MY COUSIN , SAID KLONOPIN IS MORE BETTER ..NEVER TAKE BOTH TOGETHER CAUSE THEY CAN CAUSE A STROKE..
Klonapin is the most potent stuff you can take for panic attacks. It works almost instantly (especially in the dissolvable wafer form). The only problem is, once your body has had Klonapin, no other anti-anxiety drug will work as well. ALSO, Klonapin has a high risk of DEPENDENCY--and when I say dependence, I mean you have withdrawl symptoms like a crack addict if you take it regularly and try to stop.
Try XANAX first.
I have panic disorder and generalized anxiety, and I have to take Klonapin every day. I'd weened down gradually over the past few years (you must go that slowly) but it is HARD!
If I knew then what I know now, I never would have taken it to begin with. It does work wonders, no doubt. But you have to weigh if it's worth it.
Good luck friend.
I woudnt want to take either. I would try and have a healthy diet because a lot of times its the foods we eat and drink that cause all the problems we seem to have. Too much caffeine, too much fatty food and junk food which doesnt give us the vitamins and minerals we need for our body and mind to function right. All the additives also that are in food dont help either. Aspartame in diet drinks and all kinds of foods, too, can cause many weird symptoms in people including panic attacks and anxiety. Go ahead and take medicine if you feel thats what you need but healthy foods really do heal our bodies. Good luck.
Whatever you take, I’d suggest you do a course of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. CBT is proven to be the most effective thing for panic attacks. It takes a bit of work, but is super effective and is a long-term solution.
In all honesty, I find it very frustrating the way doctors put patients onto meds without suggesting CBT (in addition or as an alternative). In the UK, NICE (the medical body which advises the government) produced a report advising that CBT be made available to all patients with panic disorders. It certainly worked for me. After 15 years of panic attacks, they have gone after a short course.
You can speak to your doctor about getting a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. Otherwise you can take a course for free online at: http://www.livinglifetothefull.com/elear... A ‘prettier’ version of this type of programme can be bought at www.thewellnessshop.co.uk. If you don’t like computers, the best book is Dr Robert Burns, The Feeling Good Handbook. It is brilliant and used by many psychologists.
Stopping panic attacks is essentially very simple (but of course easier said than done): Control your breathing and you control panic. As soon as you notice the signs of anxiety, sit or lie down. Then breathe in slowly through your nose pushing your tummy out (to the count of 5 or so). Breathe out slowly and for a bit longer (to the count of 7 or so) through your mouth. Do not breathe rapidly or shallowly (in the chest area). Soon, this will restore the balance of oxygen and you will feel a lot better. (Books and psychologists can explain it a lot better than me!)
Good luck with whatever you choose!
