Sometimes I really like my therapist and other times I want to stop going to her altogether.?

Why does that happen? I have a fear of abandonment but there seems to be more to the issue than just that. Or maybe there isnt but I just want to know why I go from saying she is the best to stupid ho cant do **** for anyone. lol . Let me know what you think. Thanks:)

Answer:
I have BPD and my biggest issue is abandonment by my therapist. I have been seeing him for 9+ years. I love him and there have been times I have run out of his office and refused to talk to him.

Your feelings are very normal. Everything changes. Relax and learn as much as you can about yourself. It can be quite a ride!
i think you have a good therapist it is a mixture of attention and rejection she offers
Dear Kat..Actually your feelings are quite common. Sometimes we simply don't like to hear what our therapist is telling us. Some people search for a therapist who will tell them what they want to hear. There is no therapist in the world who can give you more help than you are willing to work for. These people don't have answers they simply have ways of teaching you to face certain issues and changing behaviors. If you are resistant to this then you are wasting your time. The only way therapy works is if the patient is willing to open up, be completely honest, and be willing to try different things to improve their situation. A good analogy to this is someone who goes to the gym but just stands around not doing any exercises. Obviously this person isn't going to get any results and is wasting their time going to the gym.
It is symptomatic of Borderline Personality Disorder, so see my post on it, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris... at the foot of page 1. Therapy can sometimes be unpleasant, and therapists sometimes have to behave towards their patients in a manner totally out of character, when compared to how they usually interact with others. They are not there to be your friend, but to help you. The proof of the pudding is in the eating: if not improved considerably in 6 months, try someone else, as advised on pages 1, and 2.
