Psychiatrist? Do you know the term, treatment and how to handle this?

My sister and her biological son, both tell enormous, reputation destrying lies about people. They sound like they actually believe them. They are very convincing, until you check it out or it's about you. They are violent in threatening people. They take different people to court all of the time. Though they have never won. They are self destructive. Pushing everyone who cares about them away, by doing all of these things. I have given it to God. So, I'm not worried about it. I just want to know how I should handle it when they call me, telling me all of this. I do tell them I don't want to hear it. The times I have told them I know it's not true and why. They just get frusrated, yell, and tell me I'm wrong. Also, His adopted parents have been indirectly threatened. He is good in doing this in a way he won't be hospitalized. They are both very angry at the world. I have broken contact in the past. Only to be faced with it again. How should this be handled?

Answer:
Sounds like compulsive liers. Also numerous other problems. Major depression, Bipolar, Social Aniexty Disorder and possible geneic disformalities. If they do not agree to get help, I would not have any additional contact with them. The fact that you mentioned you gave it to God, good. The bible has a lot to say about staying away from certain people. I'm sure God was referring to family members too. Please be careful!
Bad news - you can't "fix" them. They are unhappy, miserable people who hate their lies and want everyone around them to feel the same way. I realize its hard to separate from family, but they are already separated - they need help. As a member of a 12-Step program and hearing you already turned it over to God, just pray for them and go about your life without them even if you have to block your phone so that they cannot contact you. Think tough love - and don't be around people who are "ill" - their attitudes can be contagious! Good luck!
I agree, you can't change anyone but yourself and how you respond to their behavior. I suggest you talk to a counselor or therapist on how to filter out some of their behavior so that it's not effecting you. It may be better just to part ways, but that is something that you should discuss with a therapist.

Eventually, someone is going to sue these people for slander.
