My mother has terrible depression and she is in a very dark place in her life but she will not see a shrink?
What can i do to help her?
Answer:
I bet she'd be willing to see a naturopath, they deal with depression too. Find one that treats with flower essences and muscle testing. I don't have mental issues but my naturopath treats the mental too when thing come up, the flower essences work great to deal with this. The muscle testing is used to test what product will work before you buy it so you know right off if that product will work for you.
Do a search on flower essences and you will be amazed what they can do.

She can't see a shrink? Maybe he shrunk.
If she isn't willing to help herself, there is nothing anyone can do. If she won't see a shrink try to get her to see a self esteem consultant. They will give her tips on how to be more assertive and not let herself be pushed around.
Maybe she will see a family doctor or any M.D. They can help also. Maybe she won't have the same insecurities since it won't be a "shrink".
have you told her how it makes YOU feel to see her like that? she doesn't necessarily have to see a shrink, but seeing her regular family doctor might help, they can prescribe a low dose medication temporarily to help her out. sometimes we need a little help seeing things clearly. convince her to go see her family doctor or if you're old enough or independent enough, maybe you can call the doctor's office yourself. I had to do that with my dad because he was in bed for months before my sis and I knew what was going on. we're grown with families of our own and regularly call my dad to check up on him, make sure he's okay, get updates to what's going on in his life and update him on ours. but he never said he was sick even though I kept asking him because I could hear it in his voice. I finally went to his house to check up on him and found him lying in bed amidst piles of laundry and filth. he hadn't been to work in months, was about to lose his job, car, everything. He was already seeing a therapists for mild depression so I called the doctor and he called my dad and set up an appointment with him (by law i couldn't set up the appointment myself unless I had written consent). The doctor called me back and told me when his appointment was and if I could get him to it. even though we see our parents as the people who take care of us, sometimes they need a little care too and many of them are too stubborn or full of pride to realize it.
talk to your mom, let her know how it makes you feel to see her that way, convince her to see the family doctor (a regular doctor, the one we go to for check-ups and when we got a cold or the flu, not a shrink)
They have local non-profit centers where the shrink will actually come to the house. Just call them up and tell them to come, make an appointment. Since she is not working she wont have to pay. just google your local city and non-profit mental health center.
You can pray for her.
well my mother has been suffering from depression for some time. To be honest the best you can do is in some way become her shrink, i mean you obviouly are not educated to haddle it however by listening to what she has to say and how she is feeling, then you should put your opinions across of how she can over come her depression. she needs to take small steps. She is finding looking for a job hard because she proberly lanks confidence. You could sit with her while she looks for a job in the newpaper or go with her to a job centre. In a way you need to drive her give her the motivation to do something with her life.
Also she needs to be taking medication for her depression overwise it will be very hard to make any progress. Depression is like a different person taking over. The person only see's the negative in differcult situations and become very paranoid. To recover from depression your mother needs to talk about her feeling whether it be a shrink or you. Take the time to care for her and listen to her, it may feel that you are just repeating when trying to give her advise but trust me it will be worth it
hope thing get better
