Everytime I hear of something bad happening. I get scary thoughts. Does this happen 2 u?
Or if someone gets killed in a car accident. I think about that everytime I drive or my husband goes out.
How do I cure this??
Answer:
That is a fairly common reaction to hearing of bad situations. The only time that it becomes a problem is if you find that you are obsessing about these things or they become life altering. By life altering I mean that you drastically change the way you do things due to your unfounded fears. If you find that it is effecting your everyday life then you need to get some professional counseling. People who suffer from Agoraphobia often complain about these same symptoms in the initial stages of this affliction. That is not to say that you are on the way to becoming agoraphobic but you need to address this issue before it does become more serious. best wishes...
Yes This Does Happen To Me Sometimes
exact same thing happens to my sister. It's only in ur head
Yes I getthat as well..is just being cautious..nothing wrong with it :)
it is a phase i went through that and in one way it is not that bad because you are probably taking precautions which is good
yes and you can think of something that you like and it goes away.
Just think of sugar-free lollipops and ricotta cheese and you'll be alright. XD
Death is just a transition to another life, so it doesn't let you escape or anything. You still have responsibilities, just maybe different ones.
It's natural fear, as long as it doesn't take over your life you are fine. If it begins to interfere with your everyday life then you need to speak to a professional.
omg!yes,it always happens to me when i hear about car accidents and stuff then i start thnkin about my b/f and that something mught happen to him and i get sooo worried.i odnt know how to cure but i just always try to avoid the subject or just think about something else.
Everyone has this problem, but it hits some people more than others. It's unlikely that you have a mental illness, but perhaps you stress to easily. Next time you get these thoughts, take some deep, easy breathes. Remind yourself that millions of people drive in cars everyday and don't get hurt, etc. Think about other, lighter things. I often begin to make list of things I need to, want for my birthday, etc. It's all in your head, and your the only one who can cure your problem. Good luck!
I obsess myself into reading every article available... google the persons name... after a few days and weeks it goes away usually because nothing else has happened or because something else has replaced that one headline.
Try reading happy and sad articles online or newspaper - i like online because there is always updates. or I start researching about a celebrity... so that is not close or real to my life.
But normally my own life issues takes over - and I stop - but start again if something big happens in the area.
It's OK to be scared, hell I wish I could be scared (im pretty "numb" most of the time).
but what you have to understand is bad things happen on a daily basis. people kill and people die, its part of life.
for the most part we have control over or lifes and the situations that we are in. to keep yourself safer dont put yourself in harmful situations, but sometimes things happen.
just dont think about it as much and stay focused on whats important in your life (family, work, school, etc...) and remember,
"Tomorrow is always another day..."
there is no cure. you are subject to live in fear for the rest of your life. have a great day!
What this means is that you're empathic. You are capable of putting yourself in anothers' shoes. That can be a good thing. But the fact that you are getting scary thoughts is not a good thing. If you want to change your thinking of feeling bad whenever something like this happens, then how about applying positive lessons in your personal life. If you feel bad that someone died in a car accident and you think about your husband, then how about telling him just how much you love him and are thinking about him? You can take other peoples life lessons and apply them to your own life - even other peoples' mistakes,
i have exactly the same problem too. i got affected a lot.
yes, it happens to me and I think it's not uncommon. the ones who get me are the serial killers. often when I'm going to sleep I'll be thinking of, maybe, girls (usually) and then some creep like btk will come to mind. And then I ask myself "Why am I thinking of this?" I suppose the answer is that those types have me frightened and angry and it shows up when I'm not focused on my day to day activities.
and I know of no cure, but you can always just make yourself think of something pleasant. don't forget that the world really does contain plenty of nice subjects to think about.
Oh this happens to me all the time! A neighber of mine a couple of years older than me died in her sleep from an aneurism and every time I had a headache for about a month after that I thought it was going to happen to me.
Also I will think way too much about car accidents while I'm driving. That comes in phases though...usually after hearing about a mom driving with infant/toddler in the car getting in a bad accident on the news. It makes me a little paranoid for a couple of days but it passes. It's strange what we put ourselves through sometimes. :)
Well....Now thta you'hv mentioned it i know actzactly what your mental status is (sorry, no offence) ? Your mental status is 'ANXIETY' but dont panic or get worried and if your wondering what anxiety is then you must know that anxiety is negative thinking of the results of events, such as in your case and to me your in an early stage of anxiety so dont worry it'll be easy to overcome and diagnose it. Now as you are reading this try to relax, sit back and casually read.
First of all when you hear these stuff you must emediately tell something to yourself (some motto) such as ' I will think positively ' or some motto which you can make up yourself and keep repeating this in your mind BUT...BUT you, secondly, must concentrate and i assure you that in time you'll get rid of your problem. Good Luck :-)
Yeah that happens to me a lot. Talk to a good therapy. It'll work a little.
