On the movie a beautiful mind, can someone with schizofrenia really control their hallucinations...?

n choose to ignore them.. or does it take them years to train themselves to do that.. that is some scary serious stuff...

Answer:
I have met a few people with schizophrenia when I had to go in the psych joint myself and they realize that it is just voices or things that they are seeing. Also that the medicine really helps. Now some people have a more severe form of schizophrenia and it makes it very hard to distinguish btwn things. So I would say its a very case by case situation. Also I find that people who have schizophrenia are the most interesting people to talk to. Their mental illness has really helped them see all sides of the story and it really gives them depth. I admire how some are able to get through the situations they get through.
just wanted to say I love that film so much.
No, its a medical issue.
Yes There are many anti- psychotics medicines out there like Geodon , Risperdal and Abilify. It varies by person on weather they work.
russell crowe rocks!! it's ma fave movie..
A friend of mine in coll committed suicide a few months ago.. apparently, same prob. watchin da movie made me wonder too.. bt i doubt it could b ignored (as John Nash claims in the movie)..

lol
i watched this film in health class and we discussed it a bit. its actually contreversal. most doctors say no, they must take their medications to stop seeing the hallucinations, but they man from beautiful mind claimed he ccould. so nobody has an exact answer. btw the movie is based on true events, he was a real person. so i guess he was someone that was able to ignore them and move on with life.
with medication I'm sure but I think it's something without it you can't control. He was severe.
