Is there something wrong with me?

I seem to be depressed, even though I am truly happy.
I really have it all. I am sometimes overwhelmed by the beauty of my life, yet, I crumble over the smallest of my mishaps.

Hi Anna:

To me yes, it does sound as if you are depressed. You can be happy and yet depressed at the same time, but realistically what happens you have tricked yourself into thinking or believing that you are happy when deep down somewhere inside you are not.

Yes, your life is very beautiful and also the things in your life but happiness does not come from things, it comes from you, inside. You sound as if you may have a little bit of guilt about how blessed you are in your life as when you think about your life, you mentioned you feel overwhelmed. Yes, I realize that you mean overwhelmed in a good way, but feeling overwhelmed eith good or bad is still a form of stress.

Maybe you also set very high expectations of yourself and when those are not met from folding a napkin perfect to making sure the house is always perfect can also be a stressor.

You may be a perfectionist, that is stressfull in itself. But may I suggest to you please that you schedule an appointment with your doc and you can discuss with them exactly what you wrote to us, and at the end of the appointment the doc will have an answer for you if you are depressed or not and then you both can discuss what the best treatment is for you. But please call and make the appointment , it is important for your health.

Be safe and be well Anna
maybe there is something missing in your life.maybe ur missing something or someone that you once had.
Sounds like your depressed and you don't know why. Maybe the reason is not outside but inside. A chemical imbalance in your brain that an antidepressant might help with. Or there is some hormone problem etc. Call your Dr and tell him and have a physical done with blood work etc. And see a mental health person. Its okay, there is help out there. Just gota ask for it
u need a month trip to cuba so you could learn to appreciate what you got
You need to learn better coping skills if you are falling apart at the littlest things. What will you do when a major problem occurs?
It means you haven't suffered or had any real hardships that most of us have endured on a daily basis.
Everything is relative.
If you lead a comfortable, sheltered, gilded life, you will cry if you have to drink cheap wine , or if you get bumped from first class to coach.
If you're used to fighting for your life every day, and for your livelihood, you will shake off such trivial , non-issues with ease.
just because you have the things that other people say should make you happy doesn't mean that you need to be happy. there could be something missing. a purpose, a person, a companion, a friend, anything.
