Do you believe that people are just born with the chemical imbalances that cause depression?

If so, do you believe that they can be cured from it, or must they just learn to be able to “deal with it” for the rest of their lives?

Answer:
People can be born with a particular genetic code that gives them a particular propensity to contract depression, which is triggered by the environment. I don't think you'll ever find someone who is 100% genetically destined to have depression, but it is some combination of genetics and environment. Having said that, I think that you'll find that some people will unfortunately struggle with mood disorders for life, though great advances have been made in the field of behavioral medicine such that some individuals can benefit greatly from antidepressant medicaiton.
yes genetics
cant be cured
but can be corrected
Yes you can be born with it or if you experience an emotional trauma your brain chemistry can change.
I think a lot of it has to do with environment and experience. There is usually some situational catalyst that causes depression, such as family structure, an event such as a death or big change. I think these things trigger the chemical imbalance. Can it be cured? I don't know. I think it can be cured with medicine in some cases, in others it can be something you have to deal with for the rest of your life. But you can cope.
I believe that people can be born with depression, but I think the biggest factor in depression is environment. I was a happy kid who loved everyone and smiled, but had two parents who were angry and depressed all the time. My mom's favorite line was "Laughing turns to crying" and she found a way to make it happen each time I was happy. How do you think I turned out? I've lost one brother to suicide, one brother to alcoholism, and have a sister who has permanent brain damage from an alcohol-related accident. Depression is a learned behavior, regardless of genetics. I don't think you can ever be cured from it or undo what you've been taught, but you can learn new ways of looking at things and enhance your problem solving abilities so that you can recognize and embrace happiness when it comes your way.
No, you aren't born with depression. It develops by the years for many different reasons. You can cure from it with meds, but i don't recommend it. You can also cure it by talking to people and telling them you are depressed, they may help you in lots of ways and seeking for professional help. People who say "they can deal with it" are just scared of asking for help. I was the same, and let me tell you, that it didn't work at all, it actually made it worse. I went for professional help and it worked a bit.
Hope i helped. Good luck! ^_^
I believe that some people are born with depression. I however dont know for sure if they can be cured from it since I have had depression for a very long time. They think I was born with it. I have to look at the bright side of things because if I look at it as I will have depression for my entire life I dont think I could survive.
Depression can be hereditary (as alcoholism)but alot of people use it as an excuse. I come from a family that alcoholism and depression run in the family;however I've made the choice not to let either one of them rule my life!!
Most types of depression are caused by some sort of chemical imbalance or other brain dysfunction. And no, chronic depression cannot be "cured". It can be treated and the person must learn to deal with it.
