Can Wellbutrin cause mood swings?
Answer:
This is probably caused by the Wellbutrin-- since you've had a change in mood since you began taking Wellbutrin, you should DEFINITELY tell your doctor. The instructions on Wellbutrin and most drugs say that you should contact your doctor immediately if you experience a change in mood.
Call your doctor's number-- the one for making appointments, or the one to leave a message for the doctor/nurse-- and tell them you're having adverse side effects to a new medication. Don't just call and then let them schedule you for an appointment 2 months from now!
Don't assume that because it's called an "antidepressant," it won't give you negative moods. This is NOT TRUE. Many antidepressants, like ANY drug, can cause a wide range of reactions, including giving you suicidal thoughts or making you more irritable or even psychotic. Wellbutrin itself warns about a rare side effect of psychosis. Wellbutrin is a mood-altering drug, and if it's giving you moods you don't feel comfortable with, you definitely need to tell your doctor.
Wellbutrin is an antidepressant, it does not cause moodswings, however, comminig out of a depression may cause them. give it a few more weeks and then talk to your doc about it if the moodswings dont get better.
