Klonopin???
Answer:
HI
It does not take that long, but anytime you take meds for a period of time, it is going to take time, because the body has become used to that medication.
DO NOT try and do it yourself; not the best advice to listen to--
.and... SO WHAT
...if you need to take it forever ..some people take insulin, you just happen to need one medication.. IT IS NOT A BAD THING...
i think the best it to read about it and get as much info on it and ask this DR. Tell him Why you are worried.
See we dont know anything else about you and it isnt fair to you to TELL you what to do when you are paying good money for PROFESSIONAL advise...ok :)
I have been on and off it for 20 yrs for muscle relaxation.
I wish that was All i was on
I have that, and , and.. and .. LOL get the picture.
just do it, the doctor that told you to wean yourself off slow is right of course it is your life you can take it as long as you want to as long as you don't ask others to take it too, these people don't even know you they don't know why you have been on it and probably just you were for one reason or another, yes becareful going off of it for sure it will have withdrawel symptoms now but you can get off of it, your situation might have changed and now you don't even feel like you need it and you probably don't perhaps you have worked through the difficult part of your life and are on a better path now that would be good, but the things this drug does to you may make you feel like you are actually dying while trying to get clean it is no different then with heroin or cocain that is why they do the same thing, good luck to you
I am assuming when you say doctor you mean psychiatrist. Klonopin is addicting, and when it is appropriate, must be tapered down by the doctor. If you are absolutely 100% sure that you have been relieved of your anxiety FOREVER, then let your doctor know your desire to taper down the medication.
Good luck and take care of you!

Why do you want to go off of it? Is your anxiety issue cured? To ween yourself off, start out slowly. If you take 2mg at bedtime, cut it in half for a week. Then take it every other night / day for a week. Then take it every other day for a week. By then you should be weened.
Yes but slowly.Ask your doctor which would be the best way to go .And maybe he could give you non addictive type to take at the same time.Good luck
go to the pharmacy
There is a reason that you take that... and there is something that it does for you! You probably don't feel like you need it anymore because it is working for you. I know it get's tiresome to have to take meds all the time, but they really do help. If you go off it, you might just have a relapse into the anxiety that you were expierenceing in the first place. I would talk to a licensed counsiler and your doctor about other treatment options before you just go and take yourself off.
Klonopin(clozapine) is a benzodiazepine which is a given name to some class of drugs. this class has some common features but clinical use and effects are vary in a very wide range. clozapin (klonapin ) is one of them and middle -long time effect, anticonvulsion(for seizures) and certain sedative and anxiolitic effects are the main properties. rarely can suppress bone marrow so at least at the beginning of the treatment serial blood counts must be performed. once a week and longerr intervals by time... single use of an anxiety disorder is aiming a temporarily sedation or anxiety relief rather than radically treatment... so, longe time using of an anxiety disorder treatment is not a conceptual agreement..
2 years seems about right. See the antidepressant websites (it's used for both), and "the road back" at http://www.ezy-build.net. (.net.nz/~shaneris) on page 2, and read that page, and anxiety treatments, on page 6. I'd try a different doctor: yours may be compromised/indoctrinated.
