you need to try and clear your mind and create sure that you are comfortable so keep your room cool, etc
Have a tub then be in motion to bed and turn out the lights..

..and relax... imagine that you are falling down through your body..
Go backbone to bed - imagine a river fall - have an idea that about matching water fall over, just going down for 20mins - it get you to sleep, g'tee.
drink a glass of melt milk and listen to soft music..ZZZzzzzz
If you can, avoid sleeping pills and Nyquil (Tequila does the job better anyway). Instead turn to Wal-Mart or any vitamin supplement store and pick up some Melatonin pills.

Melatonin is what your body naturally produces to hang on to your body asleep, and it will put you to sleep if you're awake. The only side effect is drowsiness, which is what you're after here.

Give it a try, the bottles are cheap and if they don't work for you after you're not out a whole lot fo money.
Medicinal and rushed option: Tylenol PM
Natural odds: Warm bath beside lavendar oil, followed by thaw milk with honey.

Oh yeah, you can also try and guzzle some ice cream...not frozen yogurt or anything that's not lately plain old rime cream. (The diary in the rime cream will put you right to sleep...just no coffee rime cream!)

If it's a recurring problem, you could try sleeping pills but everybody have one of those nights every once surrounded by a while. Just have a nutritious breakfast contained by the morning and snack on trail mix throughout the day; that should distribute you energy to stay awake.
I can`t stand when this happens. by worrying roughly it you'll only manufacture it worse. The thing that get me through nights approaching this is thinking "ok, I'll be tired tomorrow, but I won't die from exhaustion, I'll bring back through the day and I'll come home and relax. no big deal". That big-hearted of thinking usually works for me. Believe me, even if you only catch two hours sleep you'll get through tomorrow. Keep busy, drink lots of coffee and it'll be home time past you know it.
Start reading a book you are really looking forward to reading - always guaranteed to convey you straight to sleep
Stay up, relax, pick up a book and read it, do some crosswords/puzzles, eventually you will drop off.

You've have some good answers, I hope they relieve. I do shift work in a effort home and work all sorts of unbelievably odd hours, but I find in a minute that I just don't verbs about it - I will any get to sleep tonight or I won't. If I don't, it won't take out me. I'll catch up tomorrow or the sunshine after. The worst thing is anxiety almost it, so please just permit it be. I have to be at work today at 5am and I can't sleep, but I don't agree to it stress me. I'll catch up sooner or after that. Just think subdued thoughts. Bless you. XXX. Barry.
We all want to wind down earlier going to bed. It is not a good theory to have tv or computer surrounded by your bedroom. If you have these in that, switch them off at smallest one hour before going to bed. Your bedroom desires to be a sleeper's paradise, no unwanted items or clutter, just put adjectives the rubbish in the wardrobe a while up to that time you go to bed, afterwards when you go to bed, you will not see it, and if the room is tidy, so will your mind be. Try to hang on to your bedroom, or the place where you sleep tidy. Also, try to hold a dim night-light on, which will create a drowsy ambiance, where you will easlily slop to sleep while reading a book. Yes! take a book to bed and read it until you quality your eyes dropping. Don worry where on earth the book falls, so long as your eyelids close! That is a good one to remember. Night Night. Just lay awake until you go to bed, it help for me. I have anxiety attacks...so I can hardely ever capture to sleep on time.
Get rotten your computer, make yourself some toast and a cup of milk (something non-stimulating) and read a book/magazine for half an hour which should formulate you realise you're tired and can't keep your eyes begin any longer. Then double-check you've set your alarm before settling down. You can win through this!
