Does anyone on effexor have suicidal thoughts that come out of nowhere?

This is getting to be a recurring problem for me. I am not suicidal, but there are times when it seems the only answer for a brief amount of time. Its like my mind gets taken over with the thoughts. Even in my dreaming states, it is there, and it is very disturbing to me. I sleepwalk, sleeptalk, sleepeat, and can do just about anything while sleeping. The other night I woke up in the kitchen with an open bottle of medication in my hand, like I was going to take it, but I woke up. We are doing our best to hide stuff from me that could hurt me, but I think this is from an over load of medications and my doc is on vacation for the rest of the month. I don't really want to be labeled suicidal, because awake and alert, I realize what a stupid thing that is. I like my life. I am just overwhelmed with this intrusive thoughts. What can I do?

Answer:
Yes, and it is a risk listed on the side effects. If you are experiencing this please talk to your psychiatrist immediately so that he/she can adjust your medication. If the Effexor is causing this effect, then they will need to put you on another medication. From someone that has been through it.
those are just the side effects. not all people have them. its usually rare. i would say talk to your doctor and possibly stop the medicne.
Not all medication is right for everyone. You need to talk to your doctor who prescribed effexor for you and tell him of your thoughts. If he is on vacation, then he has someone who is standing by for him...call the office and tell them what you are going thru and it has been this way since taking effexor. You will get better, they just need to switch your medication. Good luck and hang in there.
Go get yourself another Dr. who stays in town to take care of his patients. It sounds to me as if your medication is not working correctly. You need to talk to a medical professional immediately and get professional help.
Read up on the side effects of Effexor. I have heard that it causes some ppl to try to commit suicide. I was on it for a few months, as well as a good friend of mine. BOTH of us agreed it was the worst thing we could have ever taken. The side effects were completely awful and not worth it for me. But beware, you must come off of this stuff very SLOWLY. I have had much better luck on Lexapro. My doctor told me it has a "smoother, slower release." And that is what I have experienced. Unfortunately sometimes you have to take several different antidepressants before you find something that works best for you. But once you find it, then you will def. feel much better!! Good Luck!
Obviously the Effexor might have something to do with the intrusive thoughts. The sleepwalking is a concern. You should definietly talk with your doctor (actually someone should be available on call for emergencies). Or, you could talk with a pharmacist and/or your primary physcian about this.
I'm on Effexor and it can do a lot of good and a lot of other stuff too. maybe sleepwalking. However, did you have this sleepwalking thing before going on medications?
What other medications are you on?
