I just asked the same thing a day or 2 a ago. I HAD TO LOOK IT FOR MY SELF CASE EVERY ONE WAS SAYING HE BILE DIDNT KNOW WHAT IT WAS TALKING ABOUT AND I HAVE TO TELL YOU IT IS NOT GOD. THE BIBLE SAYS ITS A BAD THING TO EVEN THINK OF DOING. E-MAIL ME FOR TIPS ON HOW TO STOP. ITS NOT EASY WHEN YOU HAVE BEEN DOING IT FOR SO LONG TRUST ME I KNOW!!!!!

well masturbation is considered sex, and the bible says you shouldnt have sex before marriage, so until your married...its a sin
If you believe in the Bible, yes. For males, anyway - think of all those live spermies that could impregnate millions of women going to waste. And then think about how quickly they are replaced. Ignore the Bible when it comes to something as biological as masturbation.

Only if you misinterpret Moses' prohibition against letting a man's semen touch the ground (he was only encouraging the Hebrews to save sex for intercourse so that the tribe would be bigger--it was a practical matter, not a matter of a sin against God, like not eating pork simply because of the danger of parasites).
No the main reason is that masturbation is not mentioned in the bible in anyway shape or form. It is not listed as a not do or a thing to avoid. Other forms of sex are mentioned but not masturbation. So if not in bible not a sin in the biblical since.

You really have to build an understanding of what you believe the Bible actually is. I've never taken it as the direct "word" of God. It was written by men in a time dominated by men for men. I personally believe that the things it says about homosexuals, women, and things that have are considered taboo were placed in the Bible to oppress society. Thus Nietzsche's famous quote "God is dead" ( which he stated after being unable to find an authoritative source for the Bible). We must remembered the Bible is a collection of a few books out of many. The religious texts were chosen by people who used them to help impose their own beliefs.
So, is masturbation a sin? No, I really don't think so. It was viewed by some as vile, and they manipulated the Biblical text in their favor.
Despite everything I've said, I still believe in God, and I still feel the Bible is an important work.
It is only a sin for men because it says not to spill your seed. Since men would spill their seed by masturbation they are sinners. However, women do not have any seed so are unable to spill a seed, and can masturbate without punishment.
