First aid kit, how much should i spend on one?
Answer:
spend what you can afford.
No one expects you to go broke trying to be a good Samaritan.
buy as much as you can afford at first, then add on as needed each month.
$500?!! That's WAY too much. In Canada (our dollar and your dollar are more or less the same...give or take a few pennies), I can put one together for ten to fifteen bucks! Most of the time, all you're worried about is bleeding when it comes to first aid. Just dump some rags in the washing machine for a few times, and, voila, bandages to hold that arm up. Band-aids are cheap, you can get a small pair of scissors anywhere, and tape is also easy to come by. Unless you want sterilized tape, that is; and while you're there, you can pick up some gauze, a CPR mask, and a reflective blanket. Unless you want it organized (which, in my experience, you don't really need to), you can throw all that into a zip-lock bag that you can put in your trunk, your glove compartment, underneath your seat, whatever. $500 is WAY too much.
first aid kits don't cost that!! you are being ripped of, you can't have intensive care stuff in your kit! for god sake $500 nearly dear enough for intensive care stuff j/k but haha go to the ambulance they should have the kits or can suggest where you can get them (ring around) my hubby has one & it was more like $50
I can honestly tell you, I'm not exactly sure how much these cost but I do know that they range depending on the size you want. If you have the money, go all out on one. You can never bee too sure. Also, I work in a home health care agency, I happen to know that all of the supplies that come in first aid kits a re NOT cheap anyway so just think of it as you are getting a package deal. i would rather spend $500 on a first aid kit, than getting everything you would need in bulk, it would be double the price.
First Aid kits are vital in saving lives.
I have one for the car, motor bike and house. I would not spend that much on a kit just for the car.
The creams and lotions etc do have a shelf life, and given Australian summer is hot, will only shorten the life of these things. As for handing out analgesia, antihistamines and antacids to victims in a car accident or any other time is not advised (due to legalities)
I would be interested in where your purchasing your kit from. I know very few First Aid kits have analgesics, antihistamines and antacids in them. Check out Red Cross, Trafalgar, Emergency first aid web sites.
