Was playing tennis last night and felt a bit of a crackle in the lower leg. It didn't hurt too bad so I finished up the last few minutes of playing-people have already said that I am an idiot when it comes to injuries and such. It hurts a little bit when I bend the knee upwards. The soreness is at the very top of the muscle to directly behind the knee. Its beautiful outside today and I would really like to go out for a run. I know I probably shouldn't but really want to.
Answer:
Well, ligaments connect bone to bone, and tendons, connect muscle to bone. I would say that, if you heard and/or felt "crackling", that could be cartilage rubbing together. When cartilage is torn this can lead to arthritis. I would rest it, if there's swelling, keep it elevated and apply ice.
well there are a few options you could have either strained a ligament, or a tendon of the hamstring or the hamstring itself. I think you should rest it and apply either heat or ice when needed. I'll give you the name of some sights that has a few pictures of the anatamy of the knee and area around it.
They say:
ice the joint
heat the muscle
Aleve is good for the inflamation
