I stepped on a bee? 0.o?

Yesterday night my friend and I were playing in a pond at a Junk Yard, catching Tad Poles. I took off my shoes so I could go farther into the pond, took my cup, went back to the pond, scooped up a big load of tad poles, and then, on the way back up to where my friend was at, I stepped on a bee or wasp or something. I just felt a sharp pain, but as I limped back up to my friend, it started to hurt reeeally bad, and I was all like "Oh my god, oh my god!" cause I thought I got bit by a snake. I gave my friend the cup and started limping along the grass, kicking my feet in the air because whatever it was was still there, and my friend thought I was faking until a bee fell off of the bottom of my foot. So I grabbed my shoes and started limping around with my friend, because I thought I just needed to walk it off, and a little later it didn't hurt anymore. Well, now the place where I think the bee stung is all swelled up, really hard, and itchy. Is this natural or is something wrong with it?

Answer:
Sounds pretty normal, most folks have a lump or bump after a bee sting.

Always remove the stinger as soon as possible -next time don't jump around but *look* and flick it off because as long as the insect is still there, too, of course it'll be pumping more venom in. Then if it's a bee (wasps don't leave their stinger behind), remove the stinger with your nail or 'scrape' it off with a sharp-edged object. If you grab it with your fingers (no nails) you'll squeeze the little venom sack and squeeze more poison in.

I've never done anything else about bee stings since I'm not at all sensitive to them, but some friends are very happy with a kind of small vacuum pump you can buy at the store here; it's pencil-sized, you put it right at the place you're stung and click it to draw the venom out. Since it's small it can be carried around easily; even if you don't go barefoot anymore it may be a good idea, bees sting anywhere.

Another thing to get at the store is Caladryl, it's good against insect bites and stings.

Home remedies I've heard of are raw onion, baking soda, vinegar, toothpaste, and just plain ice. Not sure if any of these still help after several hours, most should be applied immediately.
Sounds like you might be allergic and since the bee stung the bottom of your foot (tougher skin), it didn't affect you very bad. You're lucky, anywhere else and you may have been in the hospital.
SOUNDS LIKE A YELLOW JACKET STING TO ME,I'M NOT SURE WHAT TO DO AFTER THE FACT,MAYBE SOME TRIP-ANTIBIOTIC,
NEXT TIME A BEE STINGS YOU THERE ARE A FEW THINGS TO DO
1,REMOVE STINGER AFTER THE BEE STINGS YOU HIS STINGER USUALLY STAY AND KEEPS PU MPING THE TOXINS
2.THERE ARE A FEW HOME REMEDIES,
TOBACCO CAN HELP SUCK UP SOME OF THE TOXINS,
ALSO A LITTLE MEAT TENDERIZER SEEMS TO HELP
AND IV HEARD RECENTLY THAT YOU CAN PUT A PENNY OVER IT AND THE COPPER HAS SOME KIND OF A REACTION THAT SOOTHES IT.
OTHER WISE THE PAIN AND ITCHING WILL GO AWAY
WITH IT ON YOUR FOOT I'M NOT SURE ABOUT INFECTION BUT I WOULD FOR SURE CLEAN IT WITH PEROXIDE AT THE LEAST

Small world, this just happened to me yesterday as well!

Same exact symptoms, this happened twice last year for me as well. It ain't fun but it usually goes away in a day or two. I had just used Absorbine Jr. and Bactine spray the first time, it was okay temporarily.
That's usually what a bee sting is. Since you were around an unsanitized area and you might've gotten an infection and should check with yur doctor. One time My friend and I were playing catch and he threw the ball on a hill and as I was going up i tripped and the center of my hand landed on the stinger. So I kinda know how you feel.
