How wonderful is it to have smoke free bars now?
Sorry smokers! I’ve noticed more than half of the people outside smoking are women too..it was funny to see people conducting conversations through bar windows
Answer:
It's not, as a smoker i think its pretty damn awful, i understand non smoking owrrying about pacif smoking etc, but why couldnt they have allowed 'smoking pubs' that you have to apply for a license for or something and only allow 1 in 10 pubs do it or something, I went to the pub saturday and thought it felt clincial too clean the smokey atmsophere is part of pub culture and now it will never be the same, sob sob
My friend went clubbing at the weekend all excited by the smoke ban. He came back saying it was disgusting.. the place just stank of stale sweat and vomit!!
Guess you can't please everybody.
brilliant!! lol i can buy clothes now and wear them out and then take them back to the shop the next day and get away with it as they dont stink of smoke:)
It's lovely. Like you say, not stinking like and old ashtray. Also, I haven't been coughing and wheezing all night.
I don't drink, so I only go in my local pub on Tuesday, for the quiz night, and other pubs for meals sometimes.
I stopped smoking 20yrs ago, and have never felt better
I like going to the bar without feeling the need to bring my own personal supply of breathable oxygen.
Yes- it's marvellous! There are some absolutely cracking little pubs in my area (Hotwells, Bristol) that previously I had to endure a haze of toxic fumes to enjoy, now I'm spoilt for choice. The only problem is as you say, wending your way through the picket of shifty looking addicts on the pavement outside!
i dont think its wonderful, i think its shite, obviously your not a smoker so you dont know how pleasurable it is to have a *** with a pint, to have that privelage and then have it taken away is beyond a joke and fyi the government didnt do that for YOUR health the bastards did it to let people know that they still have control over them, the government dont care about the health of other people, they only care about lining there pockets, DICKS, same way they tried to tax fatty foods, SHUT THE **** UP, who do they think they are, if i could punch anybody in the world it would be those wankers.
Its fantastic - we've been out loads. My son has severe asthma and especially this time of year when it is particularly bad we usually have to stay in!
But not anymore - we've been out to restaurants and bars at least 3 times a week! And not had to worry about bringing oxygen cylinders with us! What freedom!
I know what you mean about wading through the butts though! The sooner it is banned in all public places including the streets, the happier I'll be!!
For once the Government got it right! Well Done!
when i smoked, i didn't like the pubs and clubs because of this smoky, can't breath in here thing and find holes in my tops from *** burns which wasn't great either so yeah i love the fact that theres no smoking in pubs/clubs but it makes the smell of stale beer etc more noticeable
I went clubbing on Sat night and I have to admit, it was nice to come home and not smell it on my clothes in the morning or my hair etc. It means I do not have to shower as soon as I get up because of the stench, I can at least wake up properly and have a nice cuppa before jumping in the shower. Thought I would be more aware of peoples BO but it was not as bad as I thought.
They should have banned non-smokers from bars instead,if they want fresh air they should go outside or not come out at all.
The next thing the non smoking brigade will be moaning about is open fires in pubs cos they might smell of burning coal!!
I can foresee the opening of new pubs and clubs which are strictly for smokers only and these will be much better places cos there won't be all the whining non smokers gobbing off and doing that false coughing.
I regularly used to spark a tab up if i was in a restaurant sitting near a bunch of non smokers and blow the smoke across at them.
The best one is when you cough in ones face though.
If i could smell then i probably wouldn't like the smell of non smokers, they would smell all clean and soapy instead of like a kipper like me.
Now that they've taken all the ash trays out of pubs there is nowhere to spit your phlegm into when you've just had a good cough.
I for one will be smoking in the toilets when it's raining so they can look out then cos it's even more of an enclosed space.
Come on the bad breath brigade, stand up and smoke for England and let's overthrow these whinging fresh air freaks...
This time, my dear Chef, I respectfully disagree. I dislike the nanny-state and have no love for the authorities organising my life and habits. Bars are places where people go to drink alcohol. Alcohol is bad for us too. So, why not make a clean break of it and prohibit drinking too? Sugar free juices are much more healthy for us and are not conductive to headaches.
im a smoker
and yes it sucks!
what sucks more is the smug look on non smokers faces!
you have won, so shut up!, stop going on about how great pubs are now.. did you hate them before? no!
and "the only thing now is walking past all the smokers outside... ooo its horrible!"
is it?
boo f-ing hoo!, i dont drive! can we please ban cars next! unless your in the emergency services! people in the uk dont need a car!, defo dont need 2 car families and CERTAINLY dont need 4x4's!
pubs stink now, of toilets
next it'll be swearing in pubs!
and talking loudly!
and no drinking in pubs!
sorry to sound so bitter!
im usually a happy man!........
You know I do usually like a smoke when I'm drinking but I completely agree with you. I love the fact that now I can actually was my hair before I go out and come back home and it still smells like my shampoo instead of smoke.
I'm a little sad because this isn't true for all bars in the U.S. but i am crossing my fingers.
And anyway, I love to just be able to step outside out of the smell of sweat and heat of everyone rubbing on you to enjoy a cigarette without being pushed on or touched while just trying to relax.
well in a way its nice but to claw back the money the government is losing from lots of people giving up you soon wont be able to afford to drink.
already our lovely government is thinking of taxing drink and unhealthy food.
hopefully all your anti smokers wont have the nerve not complain when you cant afford a cheap pint and a burger.
should have let us smoke where we wanted to now everybodys taxes will go up thanks a bunch.
and naked chef put some flipping clothes you you perv lol
Brilliant- went to our local for a meal tonight and it was much more busy then usual because all the smokers were outside and more people were glad to come for meals and bring their kids- and it smelt wonderful clean in there- it was a real pleasure. All we need to do now is ban smoking in the doorways so we don't have to walk through it to get to the bar- and ban kids who are allowed to run riot around the restaurant so that the rest of can enjoy a meal in peace.
I think boozing bars are now actually on the decline.
Cocktail bars, hotel lounges and pre-dining bars (waiting areas) seem to be more popular, as young wags are being replaced by the yuppeee generation.
Smoking was always a dirty and sometimes dangerous practice (burnt smelly clothes and even premises), and we all became conditioned to the filth and inconvenience.
Yes, the new laws will not only reduce the health hazards but will also contribute to more comfortable and cleaner living.
Pity they can't stop street smoking as well.
And yes I was a heavy smoker myself.
P.S. When will they get rid of excessive noise, another dangerous and annoying health hazard.
