How long should I patiently wait for the results of my blood test (details/more opinion questions inside)?
I asked the person taking the blood and she said that they would have the results the next day. I assumed 'they' meant my dr's office but she could have meant the people precessing the blood. So I called my dr's office the day after the test thinking that the results would be in. I left a voice mail after a listening to a bit that said calls would be returned within two business days. By 4:50 pm on the Tuesday after the test I still hadn't received the return call so I called again. This time I spoke to a nurse and she said that the results take a few days to two weeks to reach the office. It's been two weeks now.
I had something of concern on my last blood test so I am really anxious to know the results of this one.
What would you do?
Answer:
Don't panic. But it's hard to be patient in your situation. I would continue calling the Dr.'s office until I received my results. So what if your being a pest, they shouldn't have given you a false time frame. Good Luck!
untill they give you the result
1st if anything was wrong you would know it by now..That's good. What I have done is drive myself to the Drs office and ask for a copy of the test and got it. It depends on what they were testing for exactly. Some test take weeks. A simple Blood count and a few other basic test should come back the next day at least. Your Drs office sounds busy, and unorganized. If the message said with in 2 business days, they should have called to say the results are not in yet but they are expecting them? Best wishes.
So I say go get a copy. I know some send out test take a very long time,so,all you can do is ask!
I would say unless they were special labs that had to be sent for special diagnostics they should be back by now. good luck.
I would kindly call them up today, being Friday, and ask them for your results. I'd want to know too.
