Do Fibromyalgia patients feel worse by staying in bed all day or was it just because it rained today that?
I felt so bad I got up at 8:30 PM yes PM!
Which is worse--laying in bed or experiencing the humidity?
Answer:
Fibromyalgia can drive me to bed or from bed, humidity and cold can equally increase pain levels too.
Laying in bed for long periods can be detrimental, as the joints and muscles stiffen, thus making it more difficult to get moving again.
In warmer weather we should try to move around a little to prevent muscle and joint stiffness, at the same time trying to keep cool, but keeping fluids up is equally important, as fatigue, muscle weakness & cramps may occur from dehydration.
When trying to sleep you may find a airconditioner or fan may help, but don't have either blowing cool air directly on to you, as tempting as it can be, you will find that the stiffeness or pain can be just as worse.
no
If you stay in bed all day your muscles tend to tense, if you must stay in bed due to a rainy day make sure to change positions often, do very light stretching periodically, the problem with fybro patients is when you have good days you tend to overdue and end up paying for it by spending a day in bed. Hot baths are good for rainy days with a lot of humidity. Goodluck!
